Chips Ab begun its operation in 1969 with the building of a potato chips ("crisps" in the UK) factory on Åland. We were the first potato chip producer in Finland, and our brand Taffel has always been the market leader on the Finnish market. Through acquisitions, new establishments and growth, the Group has grown and is today the market leader within snacks in the Nordic and Baltic countries, and a leading producer of frozen foods in Finland.
The Chips Group turns over around EUR 260 million per year and employs around 800 persons. The foundation for our success is that we have always striven to sell products of high quality and good flavour, which are convenient to prepare and consume. Our brands shall always guarantee quality and safety.
In 2005, the Norwegian industrial group Orkla ASA acquired all the shares in the Chips Group. Orkla is one of Norway's largest listed groups, and its operation covers branded goods, specialist materials and investment operations.
